Today on our 2016 Ram 1500 we’ll be taking a look at the Tonno Pro Lo-Roll Soft Roll Up Tonneau Cover, part number TPLR-2020. The Tonno Pro Lo-Roll Soft Tonneau Cover is a low profile design and sits about an inch and a half off of your truck bed rails. Another great thing about this cover is that it can be used in all different types of weather, from extreme cold to extreme heat. The Tonno Pro Lo-Roll Soft Tonneau Cover is made out of 24 ounce marine grade vinyl. The cover comes with moisture wicking stitching which will help prevent any moisture from leaking through the stitches. The hook and loop fasteners helps keep your cover tight. The great thing about our Roll Up Tonneau cover is that we have full access to our truck bed when in the roll up position and it’s quick and easy to roll out. The rails are made out of 60/63 aluminum with a powder coat finish and the bows roll up with your cover. r
r
The 60/63 aluminum side rails secure using 4 clamps per side. You’ll just need a 17 millimeter socket to secure those in place so this is a no drill application. The cover is rated to hold up to 150 pounds of evenly distributed weight. The frame comes with a limited lifetime warranty and the vinyl has a 10 year warranty. Now that we’ve gone over some features, we’ll show you how to get this installed. We have our first bed rail here.r
r
If you don’t have any bed caps you can leave on this weather stripping, although if you do, it is suggested that you take it off, but for demonstration purposes today we’re going to leave it on. We’re going to start our install today by taking our bed rail, our self-aligning lip here is going to help us set it in place on our bed rail then we’ll push it forward as far as we can. At this point you can either get an extra set of hands or go to your local hardware store and pick up some clamps. We’ll clamp it down at the front and we’ll do the same at the back. We’ll take our 4 included clamps. The first one going as far forward as we can and as high up as we can.r
r
We’ll tighten that down. We’ll take our second clamp and put it as far back as we can, once again pushing it up as far as we can. We’ll place our other 2 clamps evenly between our front and rear clamp. With all those in place we’ll start to tighten them down with a 17 millimeter wrench or socket. Next we’ll repeat the same process with the other rail on the opposite side. Now our cover and tension plate all come as one piece.r
r
We’ll start by taking off our nut, washer, and tension plate. We’ll set the nut and washer to the side using those later. Now we have 3 notches here. These will be the 3 different settings for our tension plate. We’re going to set it on the closest one to our tailgate, that’s going to be our factory setting. If you need to adjust the cover to make it tighter you can always move it back by a quarter inch segment. We’ll just place it in that factory setting and do the same on the other side. The bolts here are going to go through our tension plate then we’ll use our washer and nut to secure it in place. Now we’ve got our bolt in place, we’ll place on that washer and our nut then we’ll take that 17 millimeter socket again and tighten it. Now we’ll repeat the same process for the other side. Now we have our rails installed and our cover, we’re going to unhook it, roll it out, and check our tension. With that completely rolled out and our tailgate closed we’re going to undo our hook and loop and just tighten up the cover just like so. To open up our cover we’ll just use our black lever here. It helps to put a little weight on our Tonneau cover. That latch comes undone and it opens right up. We have 2 options to close this. We can do it the first way that I showed you with the weather seal in between the truck bed and the tailgate, or we can close up our tailgate then close our cover and have that weather seal on the outside to prevent any moisture from getting on the inside to our truck bed. That going to be our completed look at the Tonno Pro Lo-Roll Roll Up Soft Tonneau Cover, part number TPLR-2020 on our 2016 Ram 1500.
