2019 ram 2500 cummins specs – Ram Heavy Duty truck is all-new, inside and out With a colossal peak torque of 1,000 pound-feet (1,356 Newton-meters) for models equipped with the Cummins 6.7-liter turbodiesel, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is being billed as “the most powerful, most capable pickup in the segment.” Indeed, the diesel Ram HD is a beast thanks to its 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts) engine, towing capacity of 35,100 lbs, and payload capacity of 7,680 lbs. “Ram Heavy Duty owners constantly demand the highest levels of capability to tackle the biggest jobs and with 35,100 lbs of towing capacity, pulled by 1,000 lb-ft of torque from our Cummins engine, we now hold the most important titles within the segment,” Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand at FCA, declared. “We’ve also surrounded owners in luxury and technology that, until now, was unavailable in a heavy-duty pickup. The highest quality interiors, active safety systems and of course our award-winning Uconnect technology contribute to the best Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks we have ever built. The new generation diesel engine is 60 lbs (27 kg) lighter than its predecessor. The unit also uses a new cast-iron cylinder head and cylinder block, as well as lighter and stronger pistons. An all-new exhaust system and an improved variable-geometry turbocharger complete the package. Models powered by this engine feature a six-speed electronically controlled automatic gearbox developed by Aisin. The gearbox has been engineered specifically to handle the engine’s massive torque. There’s also a detuned version of the diesel-drinking straight-six that pushes out 370 hp (276 kW) and 850 lb-ft (1,152 Nm) of torque and uses a different six-speed automatic. The entry-level powertrain for the revamped 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty is an upgraded version of the brand’s 6.4-liter V8, which in this application delivers 410 hp (306 kW) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic with more than 40 individual shift maps. In general, Ram says, the Heavy Duty trucks have a suspension designed for constant heavy payloads, which leads to a harsher ride when unloaded. The company tries to minimize that negative effect by installing new Frequency Response Damping (FRD) shocks, as well as progressive springs and re-engineered bushings. Available for both the 2500 and 3500 is a “class-leading” rear air suspension system with a bed-lowering mode for easier loading. With more than 100 available safety and security features, the new Heavy Duty stands out as one of the most technologically advanced models in the segment. Depending on the trim level and customer’s preferences, the model can be equipped with anything from a 360-degree camera display, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control to a trailer tire pressure monitor, a cargo-view camera, an emergency trailer brakes, and even an auxiliary exterior camera with custom positioning in and behind trailer. Debuting as a segment-first, the HD also has back-up sensors specifically designed to cover the added width of the 3500’s dual rear wheels. The 2019 HD will also be available in Power Wagon trim that fills the needs of folks looking for heavy-duty hauling capability and off-road chops. It comes with a different suspension setup, factory suspension lift, locking front and rear differentials, disconnecting sway bar, and a winch capable of pulling up to 12,000 pounds. Onboard the new 2500 and 3500 trucks you’ll find FCA’s Uconnect 4 infotainment system. As in the Ram 1500, the Ram HD is available with a massive 12-inch touchscreen. The big display allows for a split screen function where two different applications, such as Apple CarPlay and HVAC controls, can be displayed at the same time. Alternatively, one application can be displayed across the entire screen.Four audio systems will be offered, including a 750-watt, 17-speaker Harman Kardon system, which can be enhanced by the active noise cancelation system and acoustic glass that reduce ambient cabin noise by about 10 dB. The new HD series is built at FCA’s Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Mexico and will be sold with
