2019 Ram Heavy Duty | 2019 Detroit Auto Show – With a colossal peak torque of 1,000 pound-feet (1,356 Newton-meters) for models equipped with the Cummins 6.7-liter turbodiesel.
2019 ram 2500 redesign – This massive, gigantic, hulking brute of a truck is the new 2019 Ram 3500. Ram’s been a separate company from Dodge for nearly a decade, and the huge Ram lettering on the grille will make sure you don’t forget that fact. This 2019 truck also features new wheels, bumpers, and headlight designs.
Heavy duty trucks like this are for a very specific buyer. Namely, the one who tows a lot of weight.
How much weight? Well, 3500 with dual rear wheels tops out at 35,100 pounds. That’s three times the weight of an African elephant!
To understand how this is possible, all you need to do is check out the engine. This is the high-output version of Ram’s 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-6 engine. It’s good for 400 horsepower and a staggering 1,000 pound-feet of torque. If you want to drag a house off its foundation, this engine is the one you’ll need.
There’s also a less powerful standard-output version and a base gas-powered 6.4-liter Hemi V8, which boasts the highest payload capacity—7680 pounds, again with a dually setup. If you want to drag a house off its foundation, this engine is the one you’ll need.
You can get your Heavy Duty Ram with either rear- or 4-wheel drive. Four-wheel-drive models all use BorgWarner transfer cases featuring 2Hi, 4Hi, and 4Lo ranges.
For such a purpose-built machine, the insides of the Ram heavy duties are surprisingly nice. Available equipment includes a 12-inch Uconnect touchscreen, a 17-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging capability, and up to 5 USB ports. Add the 360-degree surround-view camera, and you might actually be able to parallel park it, too.
